Sit still. The bells keep time.

Yoin is a meditation timer for iPhone. Choose how long to sit and when the bells ring, then close your eyes.

Tell me when it’s out

A timer, not a coach

Yoin does one thing. It rings a bell when you begin, rings again whenever you asked it to, and closes the session with a singing bowl.

There are no voices, no music, no courses and no streaks to keep. Nothing to read while you sit.

The screen fades to black shortly after you start. The bells tell you where you are.

Works for zazen, vipassana, prayer, or simply sitting. See how the bells are set.

Strike a bell

Yoin is Japanese for the sound that lingers after a bell is struck. These are the app’s own recordings. Listen to how long they stay.

Meditation bell

Rings at the start and between. A clear, warm strike.

Yoin’s interval bells set to Custom, with bells at 5, 12 and 18 minutes

A bell exactly when you need one

Even splits the session into equal parts. Repeat rings every few minutes, counted from the start bell. Custom puts a bell at any moment you choose.

Or turn interval bells off and sit until the singing bowl.

Yoin’s duration wheel set to 0 hours, 20 minutes, 0 seconds

Five minutes or nearly four hours

Hours, minutes and seconds on one wheel. Set any length up to nearly four hours, down to the second.

Yoin remembers it, so most days you open the app and press Start.

Yoin’s Get settled setting at 10 seconds

A moment to settle first

Get settled adds a quiet pause before the first bell, to find your posture before the session begins.

Choose how long it lasts, or turn it off.

Yoin’s sound settings: meditation bell selected, haptics on

Rings on silent, with a soft tap

Choose a meditation bell or Tingsha for the start and interval bells. Every session closes with a singing bowl.

The bells ring even with your phone on silent, and a gentle haptic tap comes with each one.

A Yoin session at night: 3 minutes 21 left, a moon over the mountains

Close your eyes

Shortly after you begin, the screen fades to black and stays awake, so there is nothing to look at and no need to touch your phone.

Tap it to see how far you are. By day Yoin shows painted mountains; in dark mode, moonlight.

Nothing else

Yoin (余韻) is the sound that stays after the bell. The app is built around that feeling and leaves everything else out: your settings never leave your phone, nothing is collected, and it works without a connection. Read the privacy policy.

Before you sit

Will the bells ring when my phone is on silent? Yes. Yoin plays its bells even with the silent switch on.

Do I need to lock my phone? No. Leave Yoin open: it keeps the screen awake and, with Auto-dim on, fades it to black. Tap the screen to see the controls.

Can I pause a session? Yes. Pause and resume whenever you need to, or stop early.

How long can a session be? Anything from a few seconds to nearly four hours, set to the second.

What are interval bells? Bells between the start and the end, to mark time without looking. Space them evenly, repeat them every few minutes, or place each one yourself.

Can I begin without a bell? Yes. Turn off the start bell in Settings and the session begins in silence.

What happens at the end? A singing bowl rings and Yoin shows Session complete. Press Done when you are ready to get up.

Does Yoin need an account or the internet? Neither. It works offline and keeps your settings on your phone.

What does Yoin collect? Nothing. No analytics, no tracking. The privacy policy says it in full.

Something not working? Email support@getyoin.com or read Support.

Yoin opens on the timer you set last time. Press Start and close your eyes.
